Stanway Rovers Girls FC Under 11's Infernos Squad
Stanway Rovers U11’S Infernos is a squad of 12 young ladies who all have a passion for football. Our team’s motto is ‘Playing football with your feet is one thing; playing with your heart is another’.
The team were formed in 2018 and compete in the Essex Girls League and Essex Cup.
The league season runs from September to approximately March. Following this the teams are ranked and then compete in the Essex Cup. In addition, with the increase in popularity of girls football, the number of competitions in which the girls compete, in addition to the events they attend, rises year on year. This also includes the girls taking part in Futsal events and competitions.
Whilst the team are yet to win the league or cup, they have come on leaps and bounds since forming a team back in 2018. As their friendships and bonds have grown, so has their footballing ability and success. It was very unfortunate that the 2019 – 2020 season was cut short due to COVID-19.
We are a not for profit club which is run solely by volunteers. Our club aim to provide our local community with a mechanism for girls to access sport in a fun, caring and cost effective way, where they make friends and feel part of a team.
Girls / Ladies football in general is rapidly growing and of course is an excellent way for girls to develop both their general fitness and also their self-confidence, in addition to learning vital skills, both individually and as a team.
Being part of Stanway Rovers has really enabled the Inferno’s girls to feel a part of a community and develop strong friendships. Football has always been described as the ultimate team game and a metaphor for life. It takes a whole team working together to achieve success. A community is the same; when we work together and help each other, no goal is beyond reach.
However, as you can no doubt appreciate, the costs associated with running a club are high and we require the help of the community to fund club costs, including the sponsorship of the kits worn by the individual teams. It is for the reason that the Inferno’s team are truly grateful to ACE for the kind sponsorship of their away kit, which also couples up as their training kit and as such is worn on average, three times per week.
