Welcome to Community Audiology
People of any age concerned about their hearing should in the first instance visit their GP.
If your GP suspects you have age-related hearing loss and are over the age of 50, you will be referred to the Audiology service.
Where is the service provided?
We sub-contract to Specsavers and Scrivens to provide this service across North East Essex.
How to access the service
Your GP will pass your referral to North East Essex Community Services and you will then be contacted by a staff member who will ask you for your preference to use either Specsavers or Scrivens. When these details have been confirmed, you will be contacted to set up an appointment at the location of your choice.
If, on the referral form, your GP confirms you are housebound, a home appointment can be arranged.
During the initial appointment and in the subsequent correspondence you will be provided with your hearing care entitlements, support information and contact details.
