More about the Cardiology Clinic
This clinic is led by general practitioners with a special interest in cardiology (GPwSI). They provide clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and self-management advice for people referred with the following conditions:
- Heart failure
- Palpitations
- Assessment following 24hr/7 day ECG monitor if required
- Atrial Fibrillation that doesn't require cardioversion or ablation
- Hypertension – especially younger people (under 40 years) suffering from raised blood pressure and those whose blood pressure is difficult to manage
- Stable Angina – where interventional treatments are not planned or are not appropriate (excluding new episodes of chest pain)
- Hyperlipidaemias, especially possible family links with high cholesterol
- Advice for GP’s on ECG interpretation
Where is the Service provided?
Clinics are available Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) 09:00 – 17:00 from a variety of venues including:

How to access the Service
Referrals are accepted from consultants; GPs; practice nurses and other cardiology clinicians.
Hospital consultants may also triage referrals to the cardiology clinic.
Self-referrals are not accepted.
